Leif Heilberg’s photos have been synonymous with nudism for nearly 50 years. As a nudist photographer, his work encompassed Europe, Eastern Block countries, the South Pacific, and the United States.

Pacific Invasion Media proudly presents a small sample of his nudist photography, taken between 1978 to present day:

The lost world of Hawaii’s nudist clubs and nude beaches come to life in this beautiful photography book, featuring the work of renowned naturist photographer, Leif Heilberg.
Active in the 70s and 80s, Leif travelled to Oahu and the neighbor islands often, capturing images of Larry and Pru Beck’s Hawaii Nudist Park in Kahuku and the subsequent North Shore Naturist Park. While visiting the neighbor islands, he photographed mainland friends, visitors and their families frolicking on the sands of unofficial “nude beaches” such as Honokohau Beach and Kua Bay on the Big Island; Anahola Beach, Donkey Beach, and Maha’ulepu Beach, Mola’a Bay on Kauai.

Many of these photos have appeared in the pages of naturist magazines which were not distributed in Hawaii at the time of publication. These images have never been seen by local islanders as this generation has long forgotten about the existence of these clubs and beaches.

Edited by T. L. Young, author of American Nudist: The Lost Journal, “Naked Hawaii” is a fine coffee-table book that celebrates the beauty of the islands complemented by the nude human form. The serenity and innocence of Heilberg’s photographs gives the reader a clear understanding of why naturism appealed to so many, and continues to do so today.

What is the Hawaii Film Community?

As far as Hollywood is concerned, Hawaii is a backwater town populated with untalented actors and talentless filmmakers.

They aren’t far from the truth. Many an actor and writer have moved back home from Hollywood with their tails between their legs, pursuing a career that has cost them money, and refusing to give up because to do so would cement their failure.

But persevere, we do, Because the Hawaii film community are the ones that need to step up. If we had a stronger talent pool, perhaps we would have made it further in Hollywood. Who knows?

But what we can control in our home town are our resources.

Why do we not have 100s of Youtube videos and webseries? I’ve only noticed a few here and there.

Why not start a filming studio/acting studio space instead of relying on a skype seession led by an acting coach who can no longer afford to live in the islands.

Why not take it upon ourselves to fund our own projects?

This is the goal of Pacific Invasion Media this year. We have access to spaces in Chinatown and are looking for support in terms of publicity and marketing.

And soon we will be needing actors as well.

Drop me a line some time for more information.

Pacific Invasion is launching its Interview Series

Pacific Invasion’s Interview Series Needs YOUR support!

Pacific Invasion Media, has already contributed to a feature film, “American Nudist” with a tie-in book “The Lost Journal” and an upcoming feature film, “Micky’s Summer Resort.”

But in order to make a presence in Hawaii, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign sponsored by Fractured Atlas.  This interview series will focus on Hawaiian artists in Hollywood and mainland artists in Hawaii.  And there’s plenty of local talent being featured as well.

Make a donation today!

Since returning to Hawaii, I have met a buttload of local talent from kids rock bands to burlesque dancers.  But on his island, we are small fishes in a smaller pond.  Not everyone can play the Hilton Hawaiian Village, but we have a buttload of talent on the stages of the Republik, Hawaiian Brian’s, the Venue, Mark’s Garage, Loading Zone, just to name a few.

Check out the photos on this page and feel free to search for the videos.  A few of these artists have appeared on local talk shows, but online media can get them a bigger audience, and you can help!
